Painter Outpost
On your way to Yellowstone,
by way of Cody, Wyoming
or Red Lodge, Montana
( the Northeast Gate:
Cooke City & Silvergate),
experience the wilderness, camping in your RV rig, tent, or a brand new cabin at:
Painter Outpost: RV Park / Campground / Cabins.
There are very few places left that offer spectacular natural scenery and wildlife on this scale for:
hiking, horseback riding, ATVing, hunting, fishing, kayaking, photography,
biking, snowmobiling . . .
Choose the North-East Gate of Yellowstone, and stay at Painter Outpost.
Location (map)
We are located in the heart of the Shoshone National Forest (America's very first), and 25 miles from Yellowstone National Park (another first for America), in the rugged Rocky Mountains, on the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway (#296) — and 6 miles from the Beartooth Highway (#212) — in Wyoming, America's least populated state.
We are 60 miles from the nearest supermarket, in Cody, Wyoming, and 20 miles from Cooke City, Montana (and it is just a few miles more to Silvergate, Montana and Yellowstone). Truly beautiful wilderness.
Lodging
We offer RV sites, tent sites, corrals for your horses, and new dry cabins. Why not use Painter Outpost as a base camp (park your RV/trailer with us), and take day trips into Yellowstone with a lot less hassle.

Stores
For all those items that got left behind, we offer a fully stocked convenience store. From fish hooks to bear spray, our C-Store offers almost 3,000 items including food, beverages (alcoholic & non-), snacks, first aid, ice, fire wood, as well as eggs and other foods from our kitchen. Fuel up while you're here. (It's a long way between settlements out here in the West.) We carry premium-grade gasoline, diesel, and propane. There are books and maps on many subjects/areas of interest locally. (This area is a geologist's heaven.)
We, also, offer a fine selection of gifts, many of them made by local (Wyoming & Montana) artisans. Come visit Two Ladies' Treasures and take home a keepsake of this wild and wonderful country.
